The new system is the first notebook ever to feature a Dual Core, SLI capable notebook with up to 4GB of high speed DDR2 memory, up to 600GB of hard disk storage, and the option for a next generation Blu-Ray-RW HD burner.


Although it's a re-brand of another 20.1-inch laptop design, and it certainly isn't the first dual core, SLI capable notebook in the world, the step up in specifications that the new Vega laptop brings to the -- hopefully fortified -- table is quite impressive. When it's maxed-out, the Vega packs a dual core AMD Turion X2 processor, 20.1-inch 1,680 x 1,050 display, 4GB of DDR2 RAM, 600GB of storage, a dual layer Blu-Ray burner, and dual nVIDIA GeForce GO 7950GTX graphics cards running in SLI mode. Tack on options like EV-DO, GPS, and a TV tuner and you're looking at a desktop replacement to rule all others: until the Vega Mk.2 comes out, that is. The only drag, as always, is the price. For the above configuration you'll have to pay $7,175, or commit yourself and your family to a life of crime. We have a feeling your spouse won't be OK with that, so you'd better mark this one down on your "to do: if I win the lottery" list.

The Vega will begin shipping immediately in an effort to meet the demands of last minute holiday shoppers looking for an extreme performance mobile computer for that special someone. "Though it may be a little late to make it under the Christmas tree for some shoppers, this impressive new laptop may be worth the wait for others," stated Timothy Lee, Media Relations Director.

The Vega also sports and 8-in-1 media card reader, five USB 2.0 ports, 1 mini-1394/FireWire port, S-Video output DVI video output, audio line-in, headphone and microphone jacks, a PCMCIA slot, a built-in 1.3 megapixel Webcam, integrated Bluetooth, 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi, and Ethernet.

Featuring up to 4GB of RAM, Dual SLI nVIDIA 7950GTX X-TREME GPUs with 1024MB of dedicated graphics memory, and AMD's advanced new dual core 64 bit Turion 64 X2 TL-60, the Vega Laptop is the most powerful mobile computer available in the industry today for gamers, engineers, and anyone who wants to have the absolute best visual and graphical performance on the go. The Blu-Ray-RW allows the user to play high definition BD movies in full 1080P HD, while also allowing the ability to store up to 50GB per rewriteable BD disk -- the equivalent of over 70 standard CDRs.
